A little girl's room - with a double bed, Murano glass, and "I Was Designed" written all over it?
I could believe it as a guest bedroom, lovely space but as personal as a hotel with the piping, and the colours, and the eighties covered chest. It looks totally empty nest to me.
Very pretty, really loving the color combination's in this image xx
I don't mind this, getting away from Pink and Green. The blue is really fresh. I especially love the window seat and the Union Jack cushion.
Love the pops of colour and the selection of items together...not sure about the ghost legs on the bed end..simply because I couldn't tell you the amount of times I have stubbed my little toe on the ends of the bed and that when I can see them.....Its so fresh and fun. If I was a young girl again this would be a place I would want to wake up for sure...I would probably have been even nicer in the morning to my mum if this was my room........not holding onto any bedroom issues here.....
I'll guess this is a teen or tween girl's room.
If that's so, then...
1) Those windows better have blackout drapes on them. Most teens sleep past noon on the weekends. Most teens consider being awakened before noon a justifiable cause for homicide.
2)After she moves into the room, it will Never. Look. That. Neat. This is just a fact of nature. Begin making your internal mental adjustments now.
3)There had better be a lot of behind-doors storage off camera. She is going to need somewhere to shove her stuff quickly when her mom yells at her that she's got 5 minutes to clean up before Grandma comes over.
Other than that, beautiful colors, sophisticated materials, lovely room. It'll look wonderful again when she moves out and goes to college.
Juli you are obviously the mother of teenagers- me too:) So your comments gave me a great chuckle. The only thing I have to disagree with you on is they don't need block out blinds because NOTHING can wake them before noon. And the bad news for Australian parents the majority of our kids don't leave home to go to University- so it will be a pig sty until they leave home in their late 20's. Don't bother fighting it as there are SO many other battles to have with your teenagers.
I actually love the room. You knew I would love the Ghost chair and the ghost legs are stunning and worth the stubbing toe factor lol. Love the colour and that it is different to other rooms. Actually the only thing I didn't like was the pink scarf hanging on the arm of the chair.
Elements - sweety, I know the name of a good Counsellor for your childhood issues lol
Okay....as a mother of 2 x boys...NOW both in their 20's...
& I must say I would have loved to have had a girl to decorate for..
so having said all of that...!
Not sure what age this room is for...but guessing a mid teen girl..
so i think it would be a fabulous BIG space for her...
which she should enjoy...relish & delight in...
If it was for a younger girl...(not soo good)...i would prefer a much prettier girly room for a youngster..
but that is probably just me missing out on having girls to decorate for???
xx andrea
This is an interesting one.
I've been popping back and forward to get my thoughts together on this "Little Girl's Room"
Looks great in the photo, although I think the bedhead is a little domineering and maybe the padded polka dot stool is a bit TOO much of a contrast.
Keeping in mind the room has been Professionaly styled and Photographed; I can't imagine either of my two kids keeping this room tidy, what's it going to look like UNTIDY or LIVED IN?
Summary - lovely magazine shot, but not practicle for normal children
Agreed this is for a tween... I love it though...
The colors pop... definite change from the pink and green look... simplistic... plenty of storage on the shelf to the left... plenty of ways to change out a few accesories and have a whole new look in a snap... adore the polka dotted bench ....
JO
Nice space, love the blues!
As someone who was a teen girl not that long ago, I have trouble believing that it could be for one.
Too neat and has vases. Maybe I just never met a girl into interior design :) I'd say the room was for mid 20s.
I love the colours. It's a very pretty room. But I have to agree with Juli on this one.
