I know what you mean Julie-Ann, and to tell you the truth I actually laughed a little bit when I scrolled down to see that sheep skin rug underneath....now that would have to be dies black and go back in the pram I think....I think some white chippendale chairs would look perefct and more of them or the table needs to be solid wood, either painted or rustic...The mirror needs to be smaller or not so woody, haha...maybe the mirror should be bevel edge plain mirror.....
Now that I am saying all this its making more sense....
I love all of the elements that are in this room I just don't think they go well together some how....maybe too many different looks and not enough colour.....I think, I am not actually 100% sure what I think now....this room has confused me...I think maybe I should go get some rest....

I think there are too many things in this room all trying to be 'statement pieces'; the table, chandelier, mirror and sideboard. It's all a bit too much competition..no harmony. Maybe a beautiful persian rug with golds, bronzes and a splash of colour would have pulled it all together instead of the silly piece of fluff!

I love elements of it.. but not convinced of the overall look. The table and dresser/buffet is gorgeous.. not loving the wall art.. the rug is ridiculous. I dont care who you are.. some kind of food is going to end up in there eventually .

Morning all! Wow that is a flashy. I think would kids would have that place wrecked in a second! And toast all over the fluffy rug would be great! Haha.. have a great day :)

Yes the rug is ridiculous and definitely needs to go. I love the table. If I could find that table I would buy it. As for the rest it is just as you have all said- very nice but not altogether. It is so right but so wrong.
Anyone know where I can buy the table?:)

Dead Yetti on floor - not the go..

Some of the pieces here would be great as a statement piece in a more neutral room. All together though and it looks like some trailer trash has come into money.

I'm 53 years old...all I can say is when I was in my teens, Day dreaming of setting my very own house, this room would have been my number one choice, yes showing my age aren't I.
I have a similar sheep skin rug packed away in our attic, obviously never did get the chance to show it off. I've been recently helping my hubby research similar dining chairs....I've found some wonderful Home decorating mags from that era, excuse me here, I'm just feeling a bit nostalgic

Great post, loved it!

May seem strange but actually the first thing that hit me was the crystals on the chandelier...they seem too big for it...I know right this is a detail...but it would drive me nuts haha, cheers Katherine
